Who would have thought that the year 2020 would be such an eventful year? I know I sure didn't. Rewinding back to New years I would have never thought that a couple of months the world would be on lockdown due to the covid-19 crisis and there would be riots in the streets about skin colour (Brexit Who??). Due to the pandemic, the company that I work for has had to make half the workforce redundant and at the time of writing this, it is looking more and more like I will be jobless before the year ends.
Nevertheless, before this post ends up being a therapy session, being a prisoner in my own home hasn't all been bad, I mean sure I miss my family & friends like crazy. It has given me time to think what career I am going to choose to follow next, learn some crafts and I got to spend lots of quality time with my baby Arlo (red-smooth coat Chihuahua) and now restrictions have lifted I also have plenty of time to make memories with the 3 Amigos. Arlo has loved all the attention and I have grown even closer to my canine companion, although I am slightly concerned he is going to struggle to adapt to normality when all this blows over.
With so much spare time on my hands and being useless at DIY or home improvement, I thought what can I do to fill my time, how can I engage with people when the world is so closed off? My brain no longer felt like it was engaging with my body, my surroundings or the experiences like I was frozen in time. Although my brain was probably comatosed from watching endless films and tv programmes a high calory diet followed by zero exercise apart from my 1 walk a day. I thought my continuous would have intervened earlier although I think he retreated deep inside until the world reverted back to some form of normality. One day I decided to back-up all my photos and videos on my phone and was lost in the nostalgia of distant memories from times past with family, mates and of course, mans best friend. The experiences and memories we have made with our canine companions made me think I am sure like me, many of you worship your dogs and/or other pets and I wanted to share my pups stories and experiences and would love you all to share yours.
That's when I thought "Ohhh what the hell" I will try to write a blog. My sister Hannah had written a blog about dogs called 'Dylan & Daisy' a number of years ago and it seemed to get traction and people related and enjoyed reading her stories. Hannah even receiving a private message from "Hilary Devey" (Former dragon from BBC's Dragons Den) who explained she loved reading her blog and to keep up the good work. Yet despite the success shortly after my sister had her first child which took up a lot of her spare time and the blog took a back seat. She really inspired me and as a creative person, it made me very excited to think if I could create a blog even half as decent as my sisters I would be happy. I have never been brilliant at English and my grammar is sometimes suspect, but I will try my best to make this as legible as possible.
Thank you for reading and please help support my blog by sharing your doggy pictures and experiences with me :)
